Yes, it’s a 12v fridge. It’s really the only major draw on the house battery.....but if I’m honest, it mostly only contains a bottle of water and maybe a beer from last year. It’s just nice to have it cold ready for loading up before a trip. Also switching it off means defrosting, and keeping odors at bay.
So, I leave the fridge on mostly for laziness....knowing it’s going to cost me a house battery because of dockside scum🤬

I assume it cuts out…but by then the battery is flat…if I don’t visit the boat for a week, then the battery is permanently damaged. It may charge up again, seemingly without a problem…but the longevity has been compromised

It should cut out before your fridge drains the battery so low that it damages the battery.

As others have suggested, get a battery protector (BatteryProtect - Victron Energy).
 
I might have found an online shop for custom cables in France…I’ll let you know how successful I am.
Update
I have taken the flat 140 Ah battery out the boat.
I replaced it with a 110 Ah battery that I had in my workshop that was still good.
I will order the cables…but not the new small batteries until the 110 Ah battery starts to fail. That way I am ready to rewire but also gives time for my back to heal
 
So, I have ordered the two power cables to join the batteries. Also a ‘single point economy power boost’ and an extra length of negative cable so that it will reach the second battery (thanks PaulRainbow).
Total cost about €135.
These will all live in the battery bank so they don’t go astray...and will be ready for when I need them
 
So I ordered the cables yesterday…and today they said they are ready for delivery. Pretty good 😃

Fortunately the batteries are under the steps in the companion way…. But a side effect of exchanging the heavier battery for lighter ones is that to access the starter batteries you have to move the house battery. So this is an investment in the future of my back

It’s up to the delivery company now....they are usually quite efficient. But I will be at sea for two or three days so it should be waiting for me when I return
 
How’s that ?! and test fitted on some old batteries in my workshop….they would have been here sooner…if it wasn’t for the Bank Holiday 😡🤣

The batteries you showed in post 18 have M8 terminals rather than battery posts, or did you change your mind on using those batteries.

I think they come with battery posts that screw into the terminals (for a little extra money)

If you are coming to visit (I’m away the whole of June) bring me a couple of 90 aH batteries....they will fit in the overhead compartment

I can’t source those batteries in the EU....the UK supplier will send them but it doubles the cost.
I’m relying on Seastoke bringing them as carry on luggage on Ryanair......it doesn’t inspire me.
There are alternatives that I can get here.....just not as nice
