Hi all i recently removed my batteries from the battery compartment. I'm trying to access the trim tabs which are bolted through. They are leaking but this pannel is stuck down solid any suggestions how to take this off.

Thanks

If it’s been stuck down with some sort of Sikaflex-like adhesive you may have to cut the panel out with a dremel or multitool. This obviously depends on what is underneath it. You could try putting some heat on the panel to soften the adhesive but again, depends what’s underneath.

Thanks for the reply I'll try that out or cut a square hole there or a round hole. Underneath this is a big gap and towards where the fuse box is the trim tabs are mounted i need access to them. There weaping slightly water Underneath this pannel. It's the only access to it. Bolted through the back of the boat.

Very carefully with a heat gun.

You want to heat it just enough that the adhesive fails, but no so much that it damages the fibreglass.

Check for wiring or pipework first, also double check there are no hidden fixings.

Have a bucket of water or two handy to cool it all down if needs be.

Worth a try before using more destructive methods.

Thanks 100% I might try a hairdryer before I start cutting.

Try a hairdryer, then a heat gun. The one's that look a bit like hairdryers but are meant for paint removal. They blow much hotter. From about £25 or so if you can't borrow one

Worth the investment in a new tool if it saves destruction of your boat, me thinks
