I have a built in battery charger should i leave it on permanentley or should i give it a rest now and again . I use the boat regularly during the winter and i have constant shore power.

Is it a modern 3 stage or an old 'car' type. The former can be left on, and if you are using the boat (sailing ?) through the winter the batteries will get cycled to one degree or another.
