We also have a Sterling "Pro Digital" four step charger. it is on all of the time. Its internal software keeps an eye on all of the goings-on in each batt bank. We have had not problems or issues atall.
Once the banks are up to charge the Sterling goes into "Power-pack" mode, this then just keeps the voltage at the correct setting according to the "DIP" switches and batt type .
Good piece of kit.
I'm an electrical numpty . . . does a Sterling charger just deal with mains input from shorepower, or does it do stuff with input from other sources, eg alternator, solar panels, wind genny?
Hi Nick, Sterling charger is from mains only, gives three isolated outputs so you can charge three different independant batteries but tiu do have to be plugged into the mains!
