Battery cables

My 50 year old cables are very stiff and unmanageable. Cant get them to go where they need to go. Is there a new heavypower cable on the market that will be flexible now and long into the future?

Cheers

Yep.....multistrand welding cable or similar... Doesn t our friend in the marina have anything similar???? The autoelectrician on Turnhouse Road might help with crimping otherwise a fellow down on Bowling street opposite Dulux does it if you provide the bits

It sounds like you might have something like 17 strand or less which might even have work hardened with all that vibration when the Donk runs :D

I bought cable from AES as they sell tinned multi-strand at a good price. They'll also supply crimp fittings and heavy duty shrink wrap (+ untinned cable if you want to spend a bit less).

I have a heavy duty crimper and can probably make up the cables if you bring round the cut lengths and fittings. Crimpers are still on the boat in Ardrossan so might be a little while before I can bring them back home. Let me know if that helps (Polmont/Falkirk area).

Thank you both. I have discovered a heavy duty crimper here but thanks for the offer. I have sourced some cable so I think I am sorted once I do the measuring and get going...... been busy with pipes and the heads these last few days. Must remember not to bite my nails!
