Personally I’d use standard lugs and a stud. A butt connector puts you back to square one but with a joint in the cable. Lugs and a stud allow you to detach again in the future. Assuming there’s room for studs of course. Alternatively a very short M8 bolt and electrical tape will achieve the same for an inline connection.
