bathroom mirrors

the edges of the edges of the mirrors are starting to corrode in the heads. MrsA has now noticed and they have been condemned. I can´t tell if they are glass or plastic. I would like to replace them with plastic mirrors as that would be safer and easy to transport etc. Has anyone done this or should I go for glass

Go for glass. You won't get a clear reflection other wise.

Replace with glass.... any good glass supplier will make to suit.

If the originals are stuck on with silicone, dead easy to remove.

String a piece of thin wire (fuse wire thickness) between 2 wooden handles, (Looks like a garotte!)then thread the wire behind the mirror and use it like a saw to cut through the silicone.
Remove old goo then replace mirror with new goo (tape in place while curing)
Job done.

Important that new silicone is mirror adhesive as ordinary silicone will eat through the mirrored back eventually

First of all decide if a mirror is desired at all.

Tends to let you down, especially mornings

Thinking about it, a slight distortion might not be too bad.

I think you should replace glass easier and much better

Fitted mirrors a couple of months ago. Had a look at plastic ones they were really really bad. Awful!
Was aware of danger of breaking glued on 12mm ply bulkheads so got proper 5mm glass mirror with a special self adhesive film to keep it together if it ever breaks.

Very happy with the end result

I fitted some from this EBAY supplier - great, but be careful not to over tighten the screws or they can distort the view a bit.

They will make these to your specific shape and size requirements. Mine had radiused corners and were made exact to size including the original mount holes.

Cheap as chips. Shiny as glass.
