I know St Malo is the place to be in Northern France, but does anyone know if there are any top evenings south Brittany/Vendee/north Biscay. ..?

Carnac is about the best along that coast.
I have on a couple of occasions stayed in the town and the spa.
Band, Dancing general home made cider and Calvados served up by fire brigade.
Gets going after lunch, Fireworks last about half an hour..
Get down early the parking is a bit iffy.
French just abandon anywhere.
Last year I did Carteret for the first time.
I must admit that as I have done Cherbourg Binic and St Malo
It was better than all of those if you are up north.
I have also done Blaye, La Rochelle, and Angouleme.
Blaye probably being the best down there.

Did I mention that I am a Bastille Day fanatic..

Belle Ile is fantastic, good fireworks, great music and buzzing; recommended.

Thanks both..some friends might fly out to meet us, so I guess Trinite sur Mer would be our marina for Carnac?
The activity is in Carnac town itself?
Re Belle Isles..might go for that one of no one is joining us as it might be a bit frantic trip for a couple of days...
Is Nantes the nearest airport for UK flights,does anyone know?

The nightime fireworks are on the breakwater of the marina.
The stage is on the seafront car park which is closed for the day.
And the town shops and restaurants are open with many of the streets closed off.
Hence the parking problem.
Provided you plan to get there early, you should be fine.

Sorry...when you say Carnac is that Trinite marina..and the band etc is is in Carnac..or is everything around the coast and marina..not familiar with the lay of the land and Google maps is just confusing me !
If it was just us on the boat I m sure I could work it out,but I wouldn't t like to send out friends to the middle of nowhere!

Ok I may have confused you a bit.
The evening takes place on the car park between Hotel Roches and Hotel Plancton.
You may wish to Google earth that. !!
There is no marina as such, just the harbour with lots of small yachts in it
It is the area of harbour which is bounded by the Yacht club to the west and Nautic Sport to the east.
That is where they set off the fireworks.
Sorry.. I should nt have put marina.
And as you see from my avatar I never use them anyway.
Trinite would be the closest if you are not wishing to anchor off.
