Page 69 of new MBM, there's aboat very similar to T36. Never heard of it before, it's called a Galeon Nimo 360, Made in Sutton Coldfield. Aft cabin, nicer aft deck than T36 because integral bathing platform etc, 3 cabins, ISO9002 manufactured. Website www.tameside.co.uk not had time to look. But best bit is £119,700 incl VAT.

Is this a stunning bargain? Why buy a 15 year old T36 for £95000? Or am I missing something? Colin what d'ya reckon? Kim how about a test?

PS MBM is worth buying for the page 8 pic of Moonraker flybridge on rocks in Guernsey, eek

Re: Looks interesting

I thought this looked a bargain too, its built in Poland I think so I guess resale will be a problem againest Brit boats, I assume they must build to a price so some of the fittings maybe low grade or simply not fitted.
Seems to be even better value than a Bayliner though! , so it would be nice to see a test in the one of the mags instead of one of the usual Princess/Fair/Sea/line/Seeker reprinted brochures.

It is indeed built in Poland. I saw one at the SBS and it looked like it as well and there is nowhere near as much space inside as T36. So you could buy it at £120k and sell it in 3 yrs for £50k or buy a T36 for £95k and sell it for the same in 3yrs. Its a no brainer as far as I'm concerned even with the extra maintenance on the T36 but some people just have to have a new boat.......
ISO9002? I thought manufacturers go for ISO9001 which as far as I'm aware is far more rigorous. You get ISO9002 with cornflake packets; I know 'coz my company's got it and the assessment goes something like this:
Do you have a customer complaints book?
Yes, but there's nothing in it because we never get any complaints or, praps we dont have any customers
OK, have an ISO9002 then

ISO-9000, 9001, & 9002 simply proves you have the internal systems in place to ensure you make the same mistakes every time. It has nothing to do with you producing a good product. Companies that use this a some kind of proof of workmanship usually have nothing else going for them.

Not sure thats entirely true. One of my (Italian) suppliers were assessed for ISO9001 a few years back and they had to substantially revamp their quality control procedures and that has made a difference to the product but, yes, it does seem to be mainly a paper pushing exercise
ISO9002, on the other hand, is not worth the (mountain of) paper its written on. It has'nt made one jot of difference to the way we operate (we were brilliant in the first place, of course) but when a customer asks you about quality control procedures you've got to say something and, anyway, it looks good on the letterhead

Re:I thought..

That they looked interesting and as I have a Turbo 36 thought I would take a look at SBS.

They are bloody awful!

You can bang your head any where you like, the only heads is in the saloon, outdrives only, no side boarding ladder etc.

I came away thinking that a Galeon Nimo 36 was a seagoing Lada.

Our survey said.......

Re: Oi, this is getting away from boating.......

I thought the MBY gestapo allowed us to wander off the subject providing we we'rnt offending anyone? Anyway, you're quite right, it was boring, so I'll terminate myself

Just looked on their website (www.galeo.pl)

The interiors are very dated, if I had one I'd been reaching for a pot of light paint!

I suppose it all comes down to how long someone expected to keep one for. If they wanted to keep it for twenty years or so then the depreciation doesn't matter much, but obviously for three years it does.

Re: Back to dwg board- Coliholic?

Fair comments all. Not as much a bargain as first thought. It just looked good in the pic, thought wd interest Colin M and maybe some others too, but I didn't have all the lada-esque background
