My NAB/Rasmus HR has divinycell decks, and she was built in 1973!
Divinycell cores are only slightly better than balsa. Divinycell does not suffer from rot badly like balsa, but is more prone to delaminating as it does not adhere as well to the fiberglass skins. Delamination can be very difficult to repair.
Unfortunately some recent HR boats have experienced some very serious problems with delamination.

Thanks and update

Hi All-

I viewed the boat at the weekend. The owner was very straight, (and pleasant) and said he had asked for a boatyard to sort any survey stuff including the reference to suspect areas when he bought and showed me receipts.

So both of us a little uncertain. I could find no evidence of flex or damage but also could find no sign of cores being cut and made good. Without the old survey I'd have not considered a problem at all.

Thanks for all sage advice folks- really helpful for this and any other boat viewings.

Nick
