Anyone have experience or thoughts on this marina?

Is the plane noise OK or not? Any recommendations for the Antibes area for a 50 foot Azi.

Only stayed there a couple of nights. The plane noise was ok. The huge buildings around the marina make it nice and sheltered so mooring up is easier. I think it was slightly out of season when we where there and I seem to remember there wasn't a great choice of restaurants or shops. You might find yourself on the train to Antibes quite a lot. It wasn't exactly cheap there either. Why not just berth in Antibes?

It's very close to the motorway, so quite noisy, and not many restaurants except for those in the marina. There are better marinas I think... if you can get a mooring. Happy to wave the flag for my marina @ Port Santa Lucia in Saint Raphael, Mandelieu is very nice as is Port Vauban. I'm sure you'll get some great opinions from others

We are based in Antibes. You can hear the planes on final approach when they are landing to the East but I can't say that it ever bothers us

We looked at an Azi there when we were boat hunting and found the marina a bit strange. There is no real local town backing on, just a big retail park. So you are limited in what is on your doorstep. We didn’t notice aircraft sound when we were viewing, but it would depend on the approach/departure being flown as too how much you will hear. Wind will obviously play a part in the noise signature of the air traffic.

There are plenty of other marinas to choose from so unless the berth was part of a deal then you might want to look around for one that suits you.

We are in Beaulieu sur Mer which is between Nice and Monaco. The town is on the doorstep and stays open all year with out being swamped in summer.

You will get plenty of help here on various options along the Côte d’Azur.

Depends what you want ,as well as a place to park your boat ?
In no particular orde ——- some or all of below
Ease of airport access?
Train station ?
Some winter life - all season ?
Summer crowds / coach loads or Not ?
Golf ?
Beaches ?
Kids activity ?
Yard facilities ?
Security ?
Car parking ?
Mitch star eating establishment (s) ?
Private airport access ?
Long lease marina ? If purchasing- it’s not clear rent / buy .

Re aircraft noise , it ends up a white noise - low aircraft for the two air ports and various copter routes and private copters on large boats —- good news is they pack up at night .

Plane noise isn't an issue there imho. As others have said you have what's on your doorstep and no town hinterland. Restaurants are at best ok in summer and many closed in winter. Supermarket is fine. There's a piddly little chandlery on the road but a better one inside the Bleumer shipyard. The shipyard is good- I use it.
Very convenient for A8 motorway and airport. You could leave your boat an hour before the flight if you had the right cards.
Big problem however is swell. The breakwater design isn't great and in southerlies you will be rocking and rolling a lot in there, and snatching lines, esp in the part where 50 footers berth. I wouldn't use it for that reason. Antibes is far far better. Furthermore, you must avoid an outer wall berth imho. The boats there get pretty beaten up and blasted in seawater in strong winds. You'll notice that the boats there are a bit moorakery and old guy couachy, as those berths are cheap due to lack of weather protection.
Illustrious poster MYAG on here owned a berth in baie des anges for a while, 2014-16 approx.

And only when ATC allow them to fly over Antibes rather than sending them south of the cap. As a bit of a guess, they're allowed over Antibes perhaps 10% of the time. I agree that it's no bother anyway. The only Nice-area marina for plane haters to avoid is st Laurent du var.

Thanks for the many answers, I am looking for a year at least, but have no contacts, ideally 30 minutes in a taxi or even train, Antibes would be great, but looking for some assistance from the collective on what is my first foray to the Med.

The boat is in Hyères, which is too far away from the airport, so wanted something closer. Any assistance with contact in a marina near Antibes would be greatly appreciated.

I am sure my timing is not great as we approach summer, but I really do need to find a berth or it stays in Hyères and I have a long journey and a hire car every time..

The boat came up quite quick and at the right price, just not great timing for me due to holidays and lack of preparation.

What's your actual precise Loa? I ask because this has become an issue at PV.

Jimmy,

The exact same question I asked as the OP messaged me.

Wished him good luck and gave him the prices for BSM and contact details.

My gut feeling is that if he wants something for this year then he will need to purchase a lease or be very very very lucky to find something on the Côte d’Azur.

Yes I would agree that the only option is to buy a lease, I have tried since last year and failed to get anything for rent from any marina in the area. I think you are going to find the same problem.

As others say prefer Antibes but see that Hyeres is miles away so Baie Des A would be fine if you can get a berth or any of the Mandelieu or Golf Juan type area. Or look just into Italy supposed to be much cheaper. Baie Des A easy walk to train station (10 mins) as is Antibes. Phillipe at Bleumer yard there has some of the berths, I think ,so could ring him for advice (or his colleague Jean-Paul- Harris yachting) you might pay a bit on top of normal price. I reckon a visit to port offices might work well rather than email/ phoning .

In answer to the size, she is 16m x 4.7m. I am in sof currently, so hopefully get around to some marina's.

Worth having a chat at Port Vauban capitanerie, although I don't know what their latest policy on overlength is (berths around your size are 15x5 and 23x6, nothing in between). It used to be that 10% overlength was toléré but last year they changed that policy and billed berthholders (and owners) who were even a tiny bit overlength. Then after some pressure from the berth owners association they have rowed back a bit on that policy but I don't know what the position is for new renters. Best way is to go into the capitanerie and see if you can get a monthly berth just to get started. No point asking for an annual contract, they are non-existent in your size range.

Blimey, it's hard work staying in chic marinas.
Makes me wonder how many of the berthholders/owners would tolerate such restrictions and uncertainties when dealing with anything else, either in work or private life situations...
...also because it's not like SoF is the be-all and end-all of what the Med can offer, imho.

Yep the new management at PV have created a fairly toxic atmosphere. Time for a change.

Yep. We're not tolerating it Mapism. We own the berths for another 4 years and if the management don't shape up we will move then. It's a blend of toxicity and stupidity, sprinkled with financial illiteracy.
