Starting to plan this year's summer cruise, to Quiberon/Morbihan, and need to find a marina in that area where we can safely leave the boat for 4 weeks in peak season while we come back to the UK.
Last year we left the boat in Les Minimes in La Rochelle for 5 weeks and it worked well.
Anyone done this in the Quiberon area recently or can recommend a suitable marina there?
Thanks

You want a marina berth or crane out onto hard?, Arzal has good facilities for lifting, as does Cal de Neptune, which is further up the Villaine, marina berths in Peak season is like RHS. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif plans on google re Arzal etc. The yard up at Redon is pretty quiet and there is a train station there etc. Redon at end of navigable part of Villain.

Google Sagemor because they operate the marinas at Crouesty, Vannes, Port Haliguen and La Trinite so one call might get you an answer. All of them have waiting lists so high season spaces will be few unless you lift out but La Trinite might have a mooring rather than a berth perhaps.

Lots of places that might work. The transport links back to UK might be one of the deciding factors.

Vannes in the Morbihan has good transport links and is a very safe and secure place to leave a boat.

La Trinite might have room on a buoy or in the Marina, although you might have to take pot luck on availability. Transport starts with a bus to Vannes, so see above?

Port Haliguen has a bus link, but its a fairly remote place to get out to by public transport on the end of the penisular.

This is a no brainer. All the places already mentioned which are close to the Morbihan (Like Crouesty) are crowded and very expensive. I left my boat in Arzal last August and it cost £387 for a month for my 46' boat. The marina is enormous, they have lots of visitors space, the staff are friendly and its an easy five hour sail to the entrance of the Morbihan. The Vilaine river is also very pretty.

it goes to Auray train station, where quite a few high speed trains stop

thanks for the info..... it's got some funny stations it stops at ! one just had a park bench next to the railway line guard jumped off then on and that was it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As others have said, at that time of year you should have no problem about getting hard standing, but getting a berth could be a problem. The main consideration would be transport links.

You will have to get to either Auray, Vannes or Redon. Then you have the option of train to Paris & Euorostar to the UK; train to Nantes and Ryanair to Stanstead or Liverpool or train to Rennes and FlyBe (I think) to Southampton and possibly other destinations.

The problem is getting to Auray/Vannes/Redon.

We are based in the Villaine and although there are plenty of places to lift out - Arzal, Folleux etc - there is NO public transport so it would be a taxi to Redon - approx 1/2hr or find a friendly Brit out there to take you!!

Vannes itself does not have hard standing/lift out facilities and very limited visitors berths. There is however a boatyard just before you get to the marina and they may be able to lift you out. PM me if you want more details.

Others have mentioned Port Haliguen/La Trinitie and these may also be options - again they should have hard standing free at that time of year as should Port Crouesty and I'm sure there is a bus link between Crouesty and Vannes.

As already mentioned, all these marinas are part of the Sagemor group so get in touch and they should be able to help.

We called into Crouesty 2 years ago in Aug. Hard standing area empty but marina full (ish) although they always squeezed us in somewhere. Marina staff spoke good English in reply to our poor French, so worth giving them a ring to cost a lift out. Hard standing area has a big security fence around it and CCTV btw. There are several other sales / repair yards 500 yrds to the East of the marina which might also be able to help.

Have you considered taking her round to the River Aulne in the Rade de Brest and going up to Port Launay where you can park for free ! Chateaulin is a 2 minute car ride away and from there I think you can get transport to Roscoff or Brest for planes. Check the lock at Port Launay before however 'cos last year it was temporarily out of action following an "incident"
