Attempt by our Committee to change the Club rules without notifying the members

Are you a member of a sailing club? If so does your club's rules allow your Committee to throw someone out without allowing the Ordinary Members a vote on it?

Yes

Can decline applications for membership and expel any member they judge to have shown disregard etc, etc, etc ..........!

I had hoped that this thread had died. I certainly don't think it is now fulfilling any useful purpose ... if it ever did. Perhaps it is now time to lay it to rest and allow it to gather dust somewhere with other time-expired posts.

It's rather like the horror movie when the hand thrusts up through the earth at the graveside, and grabs your attention by the b*lls!

Not much chance of that sadly. It will never end until those with OCD seek help so a mod needs to step in and lock the thread.

Re: Practical considerations on how to resolve

Unfortunately the issue is not even as clear cut as that. The Commodore is now into his fourth year despite the rules only allowing a maximum of three terms. He is therefore operating outside of the law, Ultra Virus I believe is the legal term. The Committee are also operating Ultra Virus, only four members are allowed but there are currently thirteen, without ever having any vote. This makes the situation very difficult because as they are also operating Ultra Virus. Any insurance the club may have against legal challenges would be invalid, thus this is all going to get very personal indeed.

Constructive suggestions only please on how best to proceed?

Take 'em to court. I know an excellent lawyer with a proven track record in this very subject. Millions use him all over the World. I haven't got his contact details but you can look him up on Google. His name's McAfee.

Yes and yes.
All members get involved only if there is an appeal. An appeal is allowed under the rules.
And our rules are based on the RYA model.

Which clearly there is so all members should be involved.

No there isn't. You've already avoided meeting them when invited to and you've denied when questioned by others on here, that you have made any attempt to appeal PROPERLEY. You just come with pathetic excuses as to why any attempt to reason with them would be pointless.

You do however, keep attracting attention to yourself by resurecting this thread whenever you're feeling the need. Now you're going to accuse me of doing exactly the same but only after this post has been quoted by Pugwash because you claim to have me on ignore. And so it goes on.

Simple thing is, if one reads this through then I for one think NickC has a genuine grievance, and if this is his only or best way of keeping a spotlight on the club, specifically the committee, then fair enough.

If he was a berk who'd simply cocked up he wouldn't have put this much effort in; I suspect the only satisfaction he'll get is knowing how other people look at the club and especially certain committee members, but if I was in his place I'd very likely do the same.

No-one from the club involved has come up with any direct and useful counter-argument that I've seen, so stop wingeing about a long thread, it's your choice to click on it.

Gullible or what.
