The series of arguments, that you consider are minor, could not be solved in friendly way due to several people thinking they could do what they liked. This can be judged by NickC's thread about the oversized outboard, which they did not like being ridiculed. NickC's solution was to sell his share in the boat, but he decided to sell his share to the 3rd member of the boat partnership. This must have caused a reaction as the other 2 partners thought they should obtain it and I believe this was the cause of NickC's expulsion.

The first line above has quite an assertive opinion, how do you know what their attitudes were? How do you know what the other partners thought? You seem suggest you are very well informed.
We unless you can enlighten us, have no idea of the verbal exchanges and their respective inflections, relating to this issue. There must have been some but Nick is never going to relate them if he lost out.
Going public was the worst possible thing to do, and I refer you to Vic's post on page 93 where he clearly explains that the club and committee are clearly identifiable. Nick seems to be basing his whole case on his own belief that the club was anonymous from the start.
Whatever we may think about the commodore, he may actually have gone around the expulsion in the correct manner.
I don't know what will happen at the next agm and I couldn't give a toss.
Question for you Concerto: I put forward the notion that the invitation letter which Nick posted was not threatening at all, and was a reasonable request, correctly worded in an effort to sort things out. No one has yet shot that idea down in flames, what do you think?
Question 2: Nick keeps all correspondence. Where has he ever said that he contacted the club to say the time and meeting place were inconvenient and could it be re-arranged?
