The problem with forecasts is that they are forecasts and are only the results of computer models of the weather. My earlier comment was made after seeing the BBC'S lunchtime forecast. Since then I have seen the BBC'S App forecast and one from the XCWeather app which paint a slightly more optimistic but still not encouraging.

Yes, this time of year daylight is a major consideration in passage planning on the West Coast. If there are any unexpected hitches, the last thing you want is to find yourself somewhere unfamiliar in the dark, particularly if conditions are less than ideal.

Decided not to go today. Going to try for sunday/monday when tides more favourable and do it in a day.

Took a walk up the hill at crinan and the dorus mor and sound of luing looked quite calm actually. But anyway.

If have done research carefully, AND have experienced crew such that can split helm and navigator role (so one double checks the other), then IF wind conditions moderate can duck worst of adverse tide by avoiding the direct route. Curving northwards into Loch Craignish (avoiding the reefs) and approaching Dorus Mor from due West, ..........

At least I got the Northwards curve into Loch Craignish correct. And avoiding the direct route through the middle definitely avoids the worst of an adverse tide

It’s a pussy cat in the right conditions, only had a spanking there once when I got the tides a wee bit wrong in a bit of wind.

The roughest bit is often between Fladda and Inch Island past Easdale - or as we now refer to it ‘Queasdale’...

That's where the USGS put it, but the BGS has it onshore, near Achnamara (
