YouBoat was brilliant when Kath was there. Never been the same since she left, Simon never seems to be around, when he is, excellent.
When was this?

I was in Gosport in 2019 and much preferred YouBoat to Arthur's.

I found all the staff at YouBoat excellent, but Andy is one name I remember.

Both complimented each other.

Arthur's for the more 'rufty tufty' do-it-yourselfers with VERY useful bits and advice, You Boat for more general stuff. Sonia's minor canvas and sail work was very useful.

Both offered a discount to our Gosport club and were very popular with members.

You Boat do have a comprehensive stock of fastners in both imp and metric. They were the only chandler I found who stocked countersunk half domed head screws as used on our boat.

Kath was there from a couple of years after the start of YouBoat (before that she was in the chandler at Gosport Premier marina before it was closed) through until about 2014 (give or take a couple of years) would be my guess. Regrettably Kath no longer works in the marine trade, a great loss of knowledge, but she's close by up near the M27. Kath was my berthing neighbour at Royal Clarence marina for three or four years. Fun times.

The very reason I stopped going to Arthur's was that any time I asked "which do you recommend?" they'd say "I don't know" or "whichever you prefer", whereas YouBoat would answer - either directly "that one" or discuss the pros and cons.

Yes I believe Sophia once worked for North sails - when I’m down there next will see what’s happening re canvas work commissions or if they are retiring to Spain etc.
