Surprised the first and last is still running - it’s certainly an experience worth enduring the entrance for even if I recall the water taxi was rather wet going ashore. Always reminded me of the set for Acorn Antiques or suchlike but maybe 1st &Last now in the 19th century under new owners. Anyone in Alderney currently with a dining experience of this or other hostelries this year ?

I've always liked The Moorings or The Divers Inn. There was another pub / Hotel up the 'High street' a few years back that had a nice selection of beers called The Adventures Rest. Whether it or the others have survived the last year requires a local to comment or a forumite to visit .........

Don’t watch much, but saw that they are selling the catamaran to build their own boat? Why? Super boat given to them. Is it to scale down? Anyone have a clue?

The Adventurer's Rest is now called "La Ville". It reopened in its new guise last summer and has become popular with both locals and visitors.

Other restaurants of note are, in no particular order:- Le Pesked, Cantina Number 6, Georgian House, Bumps, Blonde Hedgehog, Nellie Gray's........

Alderney seemed to do quite well out of lockdown as Guernsey people flocked to the island last year and all the restaurants appeared to be doing well.

I was there last week for 7 days, restaurants in no order;
Blond Hedgehog, Georgian House, Pesked now in Newtown (old Harbour Lights), and Cantina No 6 for a good tapas meal.

I arrived there from the UK on July 1st when Alderney opened up again to the CTA.
If sailing from the UK, do try and arrive before the 'Welcome' centre closes or you will have to spend the night on a quarantine buoy. 16:00 on our arrival day seemed too late to get processed, even if you have filled out the Guernsey Travel Tracker and uploaded your NHS Covid certificate which is mandatory (plus the Alderney CT2 form which should be filled in also 2 days before arrival).
The Harbour Masters office were very helpful.

It is better to go to Gurensey first to because they have Covid test facilities on the island and once you are cleared into Guernsey you can then travel freely to Alderney if you have not been anywhere else in the meantime. Alderney has to send the tests to Guernsey for processing so this adds 12 hours or more to your quarantine period.

Agree to the Guernsey option if you need the tests, but if you have had the double vaccination, then the Alderney Harbour effectively clear you in based on your having completed all the documentation and attaching a copy of the NHS letter (download it to your phone using the NHS App) to the Guernsey online Travel Checker. The delay is just in the opening and closing times of the Covid Welcome Centre in Alderney which I guess may be similar in Guernsey?
