There is also a contest for racing boats, Solo racing Round the British Isles, (best time being about 7 days).
I remember during one attempt a French sailor sailed through Dover TSS against the regular direction, he then was brought to trial and fined.
There's a fully crewed non-stop race, for which the record is about 5 1/2 days, and a double-handed race, which has four 48-hour compulsory stop-overs, the record for which is about 8 1/2 days (plus stopovers). I don't believe there is a single-handed round Britain race, certainly not non-stop. The Dover TSS incident would have been Marc Guillemot, who was sailing Safran fully-crewed: they weren't in a race, but making an attempt on the record.
