Around Britain, non-stop, singlehanded?

There is also a contest for racing boats, Solo racing Round the British Isles, (best time being about 7 days).
I remember during one attempt a French sailor sailed through Dover TSS against the regular direction, he then was brought to trial and fined.

There's a fully crewed non-stop race, for which the record is about 5 1/2 days, and a double-handed race, which has four 48-hour compulsory stop-overs, the record for which is about 8 1/2 days (plus stopovers). I don't believe there is a single-handed round Britain race, certainly not non-stop. The Dover TSS incident would have been Marc Guillemot, who was sailing Safran fully-crewed: they weren't in a race, but making an attempt on the record.

I can't see why anybody would want to miss all the fantastic distilleries round the coast of Scotland.
If you’ve seen one distillery, you’ve seen them all.
You don’t have to stop at a distillery to taste their products.
Plenty of other interesting places to stop and bring your own bottle.

The Jura distillery is a remarkable discovery by boat.

i quite fancy the idea of a single handed non stop round Britain. a la jester challenge. I would be well up for that.

I enjoy a good distillery visit.

Some years ago I was home in Fort William and decided to do the Nevis distillery, being late November I was the only one on the tour, got chatting to the guide who had been at school a few years above me.

When my brother and I were in Orkney we visited both Highland Park, my favorite whisky, and Scapa. Two very different companies.

the Caledonia canal was fun, sailing down Loch Ness,
In which case did I sail around Britain when I left Shetland, sailed well over 100 plus miles south to enter the Caledonian Canal at is northern end, then returning to Shetland via the islands of the west coast of Scotland and the Orkney Islands?

I would suggest that you sailed around the Mainland of England, Wales and a wee bit of Scotland while missing out all the interesting and attractive bits, to say nothing of all the distilleries.

Oh well, I've done that. I didn't realize that sailing round the north half counted as a circumnavigation. Some on here seem to though. I've also done it nonstop, as seemingly anchoring doesn't count as stopping.? It's a funny old world.

That’a sub-optimal. What happened,,,
I cannot say much, the case is going to court,
there were lots of witnesses, it was RNLI open day, but no video taken.

I would prefer a race/rally that allowed you to appreciate the scenery. I have already suggested a figure of 8 rally :
Up the Irish Sea but with way points for example in Strangford Lough and eg in the Clyde.
Round the N of Scotland visting Orkney (faster boats to round Shetland too).
Back though the Caledonian Canal and down the west coast of Ireland.
Participants could join in at any stage.
