Are these adverts really aimed at us

As I would not be able to see the ads I put up!

On a different not thanks for the Hertz tip, on my second sizeable upgrade and being treated like royalty! don't know how I missed that one, I am the king of the loyalty card!

As for the YM thread copying from ybw....are you suggesting they copy the news stories or place the news stories? All stories that are posted on yachtingmonthly.com (by YM) will automatically feed through to the ybw.com news section. I dont think anyone is "lifting" stories...(Not aimed at Robin)

I think the suggestion was (certainly how i see things) that some magazine content is derived from the stuff posted on the forums. Therefore, the forums are "paying for themselves" to some degree or other. No idea to what degree the advertising pays for the website and i see nothing wrong at all in using forum stuff for the mags.

probably a small degree of that, the same way we used to get leads, stories etc from folk visiting the stand or calling, writing into the office.

Now we have the intertinterweb folk don't do that as much as we live in a I NEED IT NOW society!

Ads - I love 'em. Bit disappointed that the mental health crew seem to have run out of money: I was really just about to sign up but I'm too stressed to search out their details. Today I seem to have Nesquik "Imagination Station". Sounds good. Prolly going to give Shooting Times a miss -"Get more bang for your buck". Mebbe should be "Get more buck for your bang". But perhaps it just deals with driven birds rather than deerstalking.

Your lucky all I get

Is lost on so many....

At present I have Serious Fun, the Lion King and Shooting Times.....

Maybe I should log onto Nuts...

Ads never bothered me until they became personalised. I find it quite sinister to be spied on and then targeted in a 'we're watching you' sort of way. Hence my conversion to Adblock.

I'd also be very suprised if the forums didn't drive significant traffic to the YBW website, thus allowing Richard and his colleagues to increase the amount they charge to Adtech (or whoever) for the privilege of getting adverts for their various products hosted on here.... ;)

I get naked dwarf wrestling and personal hygiene products, mainly :D
