Could do with some help/advice, Iv'e got hydraulic trim tabs. The port works fine but the starboard just clicks when the switch is pressed. It looks to me that the valve is an electro-magnet type thingy, like I say this clicks but the motor won't pump.
I've disconnected the wires of which there are 4 + earth, and when I apply direct power to the motor it works on two of the four wires. The other two operate the magnets.

The pump is a Bennet DCM around 1991 manufacture,

thanks,

Dean

Doesn't sound like a hydraulic problem more a controls problem. I take it the pump is unidirectional and given it works with power applied is probably not the cause of the problem. I assume the wiring goes to the control valve which probably has 3 positions. (up, down neutral). When operating the control this should move to the appropriate place and the pump then send a flow of hydraulic fluid to the rams. Without knowing the exact layout of the system it is difficult to work out but if you have any more info that you can send by e-mail to me I will try and work it through with you. It could be that the power to the pump is sent via the solenoid and is energised when the solanoid valve is activated and the problem could therefor be within the solenoid. Send me a drawing if you can. pjumbop@hotmail.com
