Are household bathroom taps suitable for a marine head?

can anybody offer an opinion on whether standard batroom/kitchen water mixer/taps are suitable for a yachts head or galley sink?

Well they are on my boat, had to buy a few extra bits to connect to standard boat supply.

Our taps were standard chromed bathroom/kitchen, they started to get mild corrosion in about 10 to 15 years.

Or brass, or most things taps are made from, the main issue with mixers is pressure rating, that said most work better on a boat than in a domestic install as the hot and cold pressure is identical unlike many homes.

Yes, and if space in the heads is tight and you don't need a spray, a small domestic cloakroom tap may be very suitable.

Our heads compartment isn't suitable for showering in, but the sprayer is very useful for cleaning the toilet and surrounding area at the end of a cruise.

I have chromed brass, after a few years they start getting little black spots. Regular cleaning and a bit of acid cheers them up, but the corrosion is still there and the spots quickly come back.
