Re: Aqua-Star vs Power cats?

What are the aussie style ones? I was planning to fit the single blade type that bolt to the P-bracket, like the forumite "Tigawave" sells.

Re: Aqua-Star detail fit out

At a detial detial level, ref Gludy's Yeoman suggestion, I'd install a paper printer Navtex instead. This prints your lat long, STW, SOG, COG, Time every 15mins on ticker tape, which is much better than doing it by hand imho. Then if you lose electronics you have perfect log data to sort yourself out.

Ref Houghn's freshwater purge pipes, just fit freshwater loos instead. I'd think AquaStar will do that anyway. Fit Tecma if you want electric or Sealand if you want vac. Not Jabsco or Sanimarin, imho

Elec seacocks is a good idea as Deleted User suggested above. I have one of these on black tank dump instead of above-waterline swan neck on the dump pipe. This cuts out 4metres of pipe so cuts down odour. The elec seacock itself works a treat

You need deckwash for med, on foredeck. And antichafe strips for the bow groundlines

iPod docks, no CDs anywhere

Re: Aqua-Star detail fit out

Mine has been perfect.

Has a microswitch at each end of travel and LED tells you positively whether open or shut (therefore need 5 core cable to each one)

In event of failure the motorbox just "snaps" off, no tools needed, and you can then turn cock with spanner

Mechanics are 24v motor with worm gearbox. Cock turns nice and slow (10seconds...) and huge torque

Excellent design imho

Mine is Vetus though of course they buy them in from somewhere

Re: Aqua-Star detail fit out

Paul - as i don't know how this works please explain- after a certain time does this blog fall of the side of a cliff and is lost forever - I ask because
1. the first one I put on as a diary right at the beginning went to page 30 and is now gone
2. their is lots of good suggestions on this thread and i want to keep them for reference . Will this thread just disappear after a certain time?

Re: Aqua-Star detail fit out

Hi all - Please don't forget anyone who might know how one transfers a name of our boat onto the new one and rename our existing boat as per my earlier post we would love to learn /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I assume you're talking Part 1 registration? You have to re-register your existing boat in a new name (available on the registry) and submit an application to register the new one in the existing name. You'll have to have the existing boat remarked with the new name/port. All application forms are at www.mcga.gov.uk

Re: Aqua-Star detail fit out

I do not know the answer to the name transfer question. It must be possible. Even if it means cancelling the name and then applying for the now freely available name again. Surely the registration people can advise?

I am now back from my marlow trip to Scotland. Hence starting to post again!

Re: Do not forget to fit a Seagull!

All agreed, but does slow down the flowrate quite a bit, irritatingly. Takes ages to fill the kettle. Thinking of chucking ours away...

Re: Do not forget to fit a Seagull!

Sure that it does not need a new filter!
I have not found flow rate a problem, sure it is slower than the normal flow, but depends what pressure you have got ( or not ). /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Do not forget to fit a Seagull!

A Seagull can be an occasionally cantankerous outboard motor - Seagulls have a very loyal following, and I believe there is a club (?) called S.O.S. (Saving Old Seagulls) who can probably assist in procurement.
