Apollo 32TT

Hi All,
I have just bought an Apollo 32 motor cruiser. Can anyone advise me how high the cradle legs need to be when she is ashore? I am looking for the distance from the ground the hull.

Welcome.

Don't think there is a simple answer. There is nothing unusual about the underwater shape of the boat and any boatyard that handles boats like that will use adjustable props or fixed props with wooden chocking to support the hull. It would be normal to rest the keel on blocks to keep it off the ground and keep clearance under the propellers and rudders. The props used will be then of an appropriate height to support the hull. Boatyards I have worked in or used have always had a range of props and chose the best for the individual boat.

If, however you want to make your own custom props or cradle then there are various suppliers of either adjustable props or who will make fixed props or cradles to suit your boat. Only way to find out the dimensions is to either get drawings of the boat or lift it out and measure.

Also depends if you want clearance for access to hull maintenance/paint. Higher stands of course need to designed for the extra stress.

If you are laying up in a commercial yard ask them how they intend supporting the boat and then leave it to them. Hulls that shape are relatively easy to prop compared with some others because of the long straight keel and the strength of the hull imparted by the transition from the bottom to the hull sides at the chine.
