Having just moved boat to Hythe Marina we would be grateful and resturant/pub/take away recommendations

The fish and chip shop just the other side of the main road is good. Went there after a fishing trip and for £8-00 (all I had) they gave me enough fish and chips to feed six of us and then some. If you need more details just send pm and I'll look up the address.

Agree that the bistro is quite good and please tell me if you find anywhere else that is good.

Get the ferry across to Southampton, or cruise into Ocean Village. You will have dozens of great restaurants to choose from then.

The Italian fish restaurant in the marina is good.

Better selection in Southampton.
Don't forget the little pedestrian ferry that plies between Hythe and Southampton. Not sure how early it shuts down for the evening.

TAP'S restaurant at Shamrock Quay Marina (Southampton, about a mile further up the Itchen from Ocean Village) is excellent with a friendly and fun atmosphere. SQ is also MDL so no charge overnight.

Presuming you have the car try:

The Pilgrim Inn on the road to Marchwood (approx 3 miles from marina) excellent bar meals in the pub - haven't tried the separate restaurant.

La Vista (Italian) in the marina is excellent (non-smoking).

The Boathouse in the marina - food is excellent but is exceptionally smokey and often very noisy!

We have tried both Marina retaurants and agree with your comments but will try the Pilgrim as you suggest.

We ate in the Indian in Hythe but was a bit average at best IMHO but understand that there is a better take away near bike shop which we have not tried yet.

The curried chicken pasty from the dely/sandwich shop was really good but I have sinced been banned from eating this kind of stuff on account of calories :-(

Yes, we had a take away from the Indian - the food was pretty good, but be warned, the portions are huge - most of ours was thrown away! We were put off the local Chinese after some lads were evidently caught fishing the Mullet from the Marina and (allegedly) selling it to our Far Eastern friends. You may know the Hythe Marina Mullet are full of diesel and other toxins!!

Was it the take away only Indian behind Waitrose near bike shop ?

We had a good chinese takeaway but that was when we met freinds at Ocean Village - £6 a head and still too much cant be bad.
