Anyone want to do a little yacht drooling?

Nice. Pity we don’t even get a glimpse of the finished interio, but it is good to see the craftsmanshup still exists and that there are still people willing to pay for it. I hope they have a healthy orderbook.

Looked great till they stuck that keel on. I'm sure it's for performance and you don't see it but it just looks wrong. Old Willie will be turning in his grave.
Quite a few man hours goes into that. Any one know the price of the finished boat?

What I don’t understand is why people insist on buying slow and heavy boats?

For that sort of money you can build a fast and comfortable boat.

How fast is fast, an extra knot or perhaps two, I can still run faster than the average speed of any of the yachts I have owned, doesn't stop me getting excited at 7kts. Cruising is as much the journey as an early arrival, I tried a mobo for one summer, got there three times as quickly but the experience was just like going in the bus. Cruising in a quality yacht is satisfaction in itself why the urge to curtail it?

Excellent video and thanks for posting. It's fascinating comparing Tally Ho new build (lets face it, it's not a renovation) which is using traditional techniques with the Fairlie 55 modern build methods; both are exceptional craftsmanship and stunning looking boats.

Here, have another drool

It would be interesting to compare the costs, too. All the man-hours in Talley Ho, tools he's had to buy, rent for the workshop (got a feeling it's free, but it could be making money) etc. I'm not sure TH would come in that much cheaper than the Fairlie. Not talking about selling price, but materials, labour and a bit for the tools and building.

I can think of a lot of boats to buy with £45,000, but a woodentop with no headroom?

It isn't that I've no soul, but I haven't the endurance to take on the job of slave to my boat, and my back wants to be able to stand up.
