Planning a short outing this weekend while the weather is half-decent. Probably only end up doing a round-Sheppey with a Sat night stop at Queenborough (where we will raft up for a communal feast rather than go ashore) then head back for home round the north side of the island during Sunday.
Anyone else about, give us a wave?!

Hi All

Unfortunately the boat was lifted out this morning, typical seeing as the weather was glorious today! Still cant complain to much as this summers been brilliant and Padiwak could do with a good rest over the winter.

Hope everyone has a good weekend sailing and sorting boats out for the winter!!

Gin, you have a good one too, I'm sure you will - HNYC seems a great club, it's the one we'd have liked to join if we lived up that way.

Thanks Dick, the club is great and others share that opinion I think as we have already hosted two Saturday night Christmas Dinners for Essex clubs this month would you believe?

Drop in sometime if you are passing on a weekend

Hmmm a lot of familiar faces there!
We never got to Queenborough. One of the others in the gang was seriously spooked by the ludicrous Inshore Waters forecast on Saturday, so decided not to go at all. BUT Boat no.2 had the main course with him on board, and boat no.3 (us) had the pudding.
Boats 2 and 3 went for a splendid sail around the Harty area, then returned to Oare Creek, whence we all drove to Boat no.2's house at Whitstable and consumed said supper and got a bit merry.
Boat no.3's crew (that's us, do keep up) then returned to Oare, slept on board until the 0400 HW, took the boat out to Harty by moonlight and picked up a mooring, and went back to bed until 0900. Got up, heard it was supposed to be blowing Force 5, and had some excellent ditch-crawling westwards in the Swale on the new flood in a Force 2, boggling at bazillions of ducks presumably pausing to stock up on their migration journey.
Then slunk up South Deep, picked up a mooring, had lunch, then a brisk sail home, and even towed a broken-down boat up the creek as we went. Oh, it did blow a 6 at times mid afternoon.
Just goes to show you can have a lot of fun without going very far at all.

Amongst which Julian and Becie, who were threatening to come your way this morning after the shindig, in their Firefly trimaran 'Jemima'- an obscenely fast boat!

Sounds like your weekend was really rewarding too- maybe still a good few weekends left before it all gets too much?

I've been there for a couple of Turkey & Tinsel dinners with Thames Estuary YC - I bet they were one of those there again - there's nowhere else to sail from Westcliff-on-Sea! (That's why we are at Bradwell)(Oops no offence /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
