Is there anyone looking to move their boat by road between the south of England and North Wales - either way? I’m looking to use South West Boat Transport to move my boat on a 20 mile trip within North Wales and I’d be interested to know if anyone was looking at moving their boat so we could share some of the cost. The interest for me with SWBT is that they have a trailer capable of carrying up to 24000kg. I’m hoping to move my boat on 26th May.

Looking good where are you putting in.

I still need to confirm final details but as things stand - a possible launch at Conwy as they have a 30t travel hoist, then move to the straits with the summer on a swinging mooring at Port Dinorwic as a last resort if other things don’t work out.

She’s an Almarine 1200fa. The hull is a steel kit designed by Hans Alma from Bonito Boats (sadly now liquidated) in the Netherlands.
The project has taken every spare minute that I’ve had for the last 11 years which is way over my original expectation. The project is a 100% self build and apart from the odd hand now and again for lifting, all the work is my own. The internal accommodation has an aft cabin with island double berth and an en-suite including full size shower. There is a forward double vee berth and a small mid cabin with two bunks. There is a heads forward adjacent to the galley and a large dinette in the central saloon area. Engines are twin Perkins (refurbished)
fuel tanks are epoxy coated steel 2 x 450 litres, fresh water tanks are grp 2 x 400 litres and a grp black water holding tank of about 250 litres. Still got work to complete prior to the planned move at the end of May.

I take my hat off to you. I barely find the time or will to clean my boat, let alone spend 11 years building one.
I hope you do a video of the launch and first sea voyage for us all to revel in with you!

Nah - I know how that goes: Until 29 they are happy to tell. Then 29 sort of keeps for 10 years, then 39 keeps for 10 years, then stop counting/telling.
Hence SWMBO is now 39. Plus 396 months.

As for the cost, an indication of course will be fine. So many don't realize the reality when 'fixing' a boat, so a real life hands on statement would be good.

To be honest, I haven’t kept a full account of what it’s cost me! If I had, it would probably scare me to death!
As a realistic estimate, by the time the boat hits the water - it can’t be far off £150k
All paid for - no debt!
