Anyone going to SIBS?

I've heard rumours of a gathering in Wetherspoons at end of the day. But I know not which Wetherspoons or whether there is other Wetherspoons or whereabouts .

Suffice it to say, we will be in a nearby Wetherspoons at 6ish.

Are there any plans afoot to perhaps organise a polite rendezvous?

Or does that imply a level of organisation and co-operation beyond the informal anarchy of the parish?

Last year nothing was arranged - yet, somehow we all seemed to bump into each other at the YBW stand mid-afternoon.

Richard was duty barman - hope his fridge is well-stocked. :encouragement:

Was looking at popping down on Wednesday with daughter, but it looks as though the on-line tickets have leapt up to £20 a go, and the family ticket at £30 seems to have gone as well. Even the RYA discounted deal has expired. Unless there are any late changes to pricing, this tips the decision over the edge for me (unless anyone knows of any other way of getting reasonably priced tickets?).
Ask me next time, might be able to help a fellow local...

Aha, thanks for the offer. Perhaps next year. I used the code given in Scuttlebutt, which came out a bit more reasonable. When we got there, the doors showed a student price (which was not on the website), so in the end I could have got in at the door for the same price as the offer. Irritating how they organised the ticket prices this year.

Still, bought some boots, and now have 2 free tickets for LIBS.

Finally bought my show tickets for tomorrow on t'internet, but despite there being loads of waffle about eTickets there was no option to select such a thing and all I've got via email is a booking confirmation. I was hoping to get something I could print and take with my but apparently I have to take my card and collect the damn things. Has this changed from previous years or am I just incompetent?

I've a spare free ticket if anyone local wants it. Send me a PM if you do.

Mrs Xyachtdave has given daughter and I free reign to buy what we like (including a boat) without her prior consent so won't be attending!

'I trust your judgement,'....

We went yesterday, met up with Full Circle, Saguday, Habebty and JHR for dinner (terrible restaurant, but I've been accused of being a London snob :) so it might just be me ).

Glad we went. It's a long day, but our learning curve is reducing - it is very helpful to talk to experts. Plus we got a good deal on an electric outboard.

Ooo-arrr yezzum; flippin' Townies :p :)

I've had better Chinese meals but it was partly the extended wait between courses that made a poor impression. And the shortage of plum sauce.

For future reference, if you like sushi, Zen - which is just down the road - is not bad particularly if you go mid-week and have the all you can get down yer neck menu......
