anyone ever heard of this

Are you 'living' on board? How about checking the water left in the toilet bowl, just a thought.
Also checking the sink outlet. Lift all the bunk cushions, leave a couple of tins under the edge just to lift them and allow air to circulate. Good luck!!

Hi
We had simular problem, and was told to avoid bleach and chemical cleaners as when they react they give off their own smell, we were told to use sterilising tablets, the one you use for babies bottles, this has worked a treat, every time we leave we drop them into the bowl wait a couple of mins and flush, this has sorted our problem,

make sure you have a junior hacksaw and spare blades, hot air gun and a good pair of wire cutters. Warm the pipe at the fitting before trying to pull it off. get it soft and pliable first. dont try too hard to pull the pipe off, if its well stuck on cut it away. Its easier to cut the pipe off the fitting at a diagonal angle along the hose tail. don't worry about whats inside the pipes - probably nothing at all but a bit of water. warm the new pipe ends up before you try and push them on by dunking them in very hot water for a minute or two.

yes cheers will do all of that :D

I used a pair of long handled side cutters to cut the wire spiral and the pipe off the sea cocks and fittings, not too hard if you have room around the fitting, boiled the kettle and softened the new pipe in hot water.

Ok, so it wasn't all completed without firing a couple of fecks around the boat but I was so glad I did it as it transferred the whole boat within 24 hours.

Hi folks...first post on forum, but have been reading for some years...all of the posters good very helpful advice..like to throw this into pot as well...was mentioned. .but if safe to do so and with caution..check batteries.Have been on boats with residual odour..slightly masked by variety air fresh jobbies...then turned battery charger on and odour increased. So has charger been left on whilst away from boat..after cleansing efforts...or does smell increase when charger in use ..we thought of all sorts of black tank issues...but found to bow thruster batteries "frying"...hope is of some help.please be careful whilst checking ..take protection precautions prior to removing any batterylids covers etc ..but smell is similar to sweet but eggy taints. ...

Hi all

Just finished changing the toilet and holding tank pipes and WOW what a difference it is like being on a different boat the smell has gone just been out for a pint come back and no smell just cant believe it so chuffed

The pipes were disgusting they really did stink and were well blocked up terrible really for a 8 year old boat

One thing today i can tell you the sea is cold as i dropped a straight pipe conector in the sea so rushed to grab it delved my arm into the sea and promptly slid off the pontoon head first straight into the sea just like a seal would do very elegant my god it took my breath away that did lol

Really pleased that it has made the difference.

Now all you need to do is wash, repack and change the cartridge in your life jacket...... :)
