Anyone else have a nice day out today?

If you think about where it's custom comes from, mainly holiday makers and tourists who wander across at low tide, during the holiday season, is it any wonder it can't afford the same amenities as pubs with larger and more constant trade. I've always been amazed it manages to keep going, and I wouldn't change a thing, as it's a proper old fashioned pub, and there are few left.

and yes, it's famous as an art deco style hotel, so very popular with AC whodunits

If that's what a proper old fashioned pub should be like then I'm not surprised there are few left. Make sure you have an anti-tetanus jab afterwards.

It sounds like our old 'outback' pubs in the bush and the characters that run them.
The tourists find the experience of 'days gone by' rather charming, but some locals cringe at the thought.

Did you anchor on the N.Side of Burgh Island as I've never seen anyone do that before?

We anchored on the other side, just off the entrance to the Avon, while we went up the river. By the time we got back to the boat the wind had got up

that's why we moved to the other side.
