ANYONE BEEN TO ISLA COLUMBRETES?

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought these islands were a national park and recreational boaters are banned from visiting or at least severely limited

No but I might do, there are plenty of images of the main island/anchorage. But its 39deg 53 N 35 is Algeria!

It's on my list.
AFAIK it is possible to visit but I think there are restrictions.
I dont think you are allowed ashore and I think you have to use the fixed mooring buoys rather than your own anchor.
No fishing I believe but I'm told that the water is very clear so swimming and diving should be great - if allowed.

The people to ask are the Bahia Mar Group - based in the new modern building by the old marina. They also run the Xiringoito Restarrant - the one out on the stilts in the lagoon. It seems that they are a local family and run other attractions - boat trips etc - but I think they also visit the Isla Columbretes. There may even be a permit necessary - they will know.

I intend finding out sometime anyway.

This is where they are - for those that dont know about them.

yes we went last August lovely place but not many bouys available you need to get there early as the divers trip boats take all the spaces, we arrived too late to secure a bouy and ended up travelling on to ibiza, will be trying again this year.

Sorry for typo or is it just that I will not admit to reading the coordinates inaccurately from a PC screen only 300mm away from me with PC Plotter 5000 on it! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Thanks to all for advice - any more welcome - will of course check the regs before leaving but good to know we may be OK to visit this area, given its short distance from Sant Carles!
