I have a bosch scraper which is no longer available which I used to remove deck covring

I've got one of these and it's fantastic. You can get a smooth scraper blade, or a toothed one, and of course, loads of other blades for other jobs. It's a brilliant all-rounder.

Unless the surface to which the remnants are attached is smooth,you wont have much luck with a power scraper, since it won't get into the hollows.

When I had to do this job I used a wire brush and a Bahco 625 scraper with a pear shaped blade.

And there's a version with a ball at the sharp end that's much easier to put pressure on...

As per Poignard's reply...

It was some time ago but I just used a wire brush... It got rid of all the loose stuff in less time than it would have taken to go out and get a specialist scraping tool..

You do not have to remove all the old adhesive, just make sure there are no lumps. That is what Hawke House told me. My PowerPoint presentation may be helpful to you. If using the contact adhesive on the glassfibre and spray adhesive on the foam backed vinyl, you do have a limited time to remove and reapply - something I learnt after it would have been useful.

We used a small dirt devil vacuum that had a stiff rotary brush head, worked incredibly well and clean the mesh at the same time

I'm rather embarrassed to admit that I didn't know that Hawke House have pre-stitched kits: I'll get some prices (for our Falcon). Shame they don't pre-cut panels for real numptie like me (who's already removed some panels).

The removable is very dusty I suspect but I had thought if worries you might via say a westerly forum find an expert to help fitting . Years ago on our centaur at time Trafalgar at Fareham creek used to know such experts in westerly matters. Maybe a local westerly knows of such experts in your area to help refitting new panels ?
