Been to a couple of events there of late. I'm not a member so have been signed in as a guest. Is it my imagination or are there very few sailors in the club? Chatted with a few people and, with the exception of one chap, people tended to look at me blankly when I asked them if they sailed. Very nice people I hasten to add.

I keep my boat on a swinging mooring at Pin Mill and absolutely love it there. I'm not much of a booze drinker and am wondering if its worth joining the club if, as it seems to me, the cheap drinks make it more of a social club than a sailing club. With this in mind I'd be interested to hear if there are members on here and whether there is an active sailing membership with events organised and so on.

We're members but we don't really great the Club as a sailing club, I admit(to my shame). But then in our defence we've never been big into 'group sailing' whether racing or cruising. I know they wou!d dearly like to expand that side of it.
As an aside, I reckon the best boxing day in Suffolk is there. The Morris men dance at about midday and then retire inside to drink beer and play and sing carols. Tea and bacon sandwiches too, perfect for families!

We are members and have been for about 18 years since buying a house in the lane and later moving here permanently. However we have been members of RHYC for over 30 years and tend to use that much more. We do attend some functions at PMSC and they are always excellent and good fun. As a social club, and many of the members are locals who do not sail or own a boat, it is excellent. As far as Sailing goes it is way different from RHYC, there is no regular organised racing, just the Regatta, and that is for yachts only, they used to have a separate Dinghy Regatta but that was abandoned some years ago. They do also organise the Pin Mill Barge Match in July, which is a great spectacle. I believe there are some "Cruise in Company" type events but have no experience of them. Having said that if you are local and want a very economical friendly place to go and have a drink and a natter and look at the wonderful view I would recommend it.
