Hi,, my Uni days are getting a bit distant. trying to estimate the power factor of a domestic electric oven and hob. (SWMBO wants posh new hob and oven to run from 8KVA generator) I think they are mostly resistive so PF should be nearly 1 - or have I forgotten to much...
 
Yup your memory is fine. For a pure resistive load, PF=1. You got loads of capacity with 8kva genset

Mikehibb, i don't know for sure but as a wildish guess I'd think an induction hob isn't actually an inductive load on the supply line. Dunno, happy to be corrected on that, but the induction is to do with agitating the metal in the base of the saucepan, which might not be an inductive load in the way an electric motor is
