Anti Social Behaviour

I hope the marina gave you a full refund at the very least. Part of what you pay for, etc.

In the Caribbean the trick was to try to spot the party charterboats as they came in, and simply move yourself way way off.

You could always then re-anchor close in in the morning cos the drunkboats had crawled off to the next ''must see'' bay or bar, usually under engine with one lone brave soul grimly clutching the wheel.

Ok, here's the drill should these happy Welsh lads appear again.
1. Wait until they are all safely three sheets in the wind.
2. Take an old sheepskin coat, turn it inside out and button it securely round a nice plump fender.
3. Sneak down the pontoon, heave the 'fender' into the cockpit making a seductive Baaa! sound and then leg it (quickly) back to your boat.
4. Await the first shouts of 'I saw her first' then phone the cops. By the time they arrive a full scale punch-up will have ensued and they'll all get nicked.

Night night.

I honestly cannot believe the intolerance of some of the people here?
It was a party... On a saturday night...

Seriously I cannot see a problem, i'm often falling asleep when I'm AT parties, i'd have no trouble if it was a few berths down! :)

I think partying 1 night in 7 is showing a good respect for everyone at the marina... Afterall your expecting them to never party past midnight, that's hardly tolerant!

Well after reading all this drivel I'm glad I don't live in the UK anymore.

Some of you lot need to get a life and learn how to enjoy it, instead of having virtual argument on a chat room like a bunch of Victor Meldrew's on steroids!

It's late autumn / early winter in the UK. Cold, damp and either flat calm or blowing a hooley. Grumping at each other is the only fun we get.

You might be surprised to know that a lot of us are at various points around the world.OK
GOT IT

Grumpy old gits, grumpy old gits, grumpy old gits, you should have got a bottle and joined them.

Midnight is not the witching hour anymore - loads of clubs don't open till 01.00 and close around 04.00. Its 2009 people move around and work 24/7 they are also allowed to party when they want. Its the modern equivalent of having a few pints after the 2 till 10 shift or worse if you were on continentals. Nobody complained when you came off shift and went for a pint or 6 - no matter what time of day it was!

The UK has turned into a nation of whingers, I hate to say it but the Ozies were right about the whinging Poms. Get a life - live and let live.

Hi
I agree .We had a around the world cat with husband and wife crew, parked in Ageina harbour, shouting at ,the one and two week charters to stop enjoying themselves after midnight, he was parked there for a week same row from him everynight

I asked him why did he stay there ,is answer was the police dont come over this side of the port He missed the point completely

there might have been a couple of reasons to join them? You can see one of the reasons just to the right of the picture....

and here's the other one

I am amazed that so many feel it is OK to disturb others and that it is the others who should move if they don't like it. That is an attitude that is becoming all too normal in the UK and I hate it.

I take some consolation that some at least of the I'm all right Jack fuck you brigade at least are based overseas in places I will not be visiting.

I believe there is a generation divide here!
I'm currently 22, If someone wants a party I don't care i'll join in, even if I want some rest... I'll have no trouble sleeping through it, safe in the knowledge that when I have my party at some point they likewise won't complain.

Why do some of you see it as bad manners and a sign of bad etiquette when you don't get your way of having the marina dead quiet 7 days a week, give and take surely... On a weekend I like to unwind, I appreciate that some of you retired people the weekend doesn't have any real significance, but when you work all week you want to have a good time at the weekend.

Its rather annoying to get told by someone that your disturbing them when they have no trouble making all the noise they want at 7AM because they're early risers.

Hope the gunfire will not keep you awake in the USA!!!!!!

No really, if lots of people from various countries are having a good time on their holls it is resonable for one person to decide what they should do in a tourist port

I know that if I was unhappy with events I would move or join in the fun ,as said most nights out here you dont go out till midnight and to bed about 6am

Bully for you. When I was 22 I wasn't sitting at a computer telling a bunch of other people to chill out, I was out partying (but not going out of my way to p!ss people off). Now I'm twice that age - not that old but not young as such - and I usually sail with my wife and small son. My wife works extremely hard during the week in a psychologically very stressful job. I work pretty damned hard myself sometimes seven days a week in a marginal self-employed business (which I enjoy doing in its own right, not just as a means to afford a boat or to get sh!t-arsed).

We go sailing for pleasure. We don't go sailing simply as a means to park up somewhere floaty, get seriously p1ssed and seriously selfish. In any event, by mid-evening we've got to ensure our lad is tucked up asleep - or he'll be a nightmare the next day. I've been out sailing one weekend in the last ten weeks because of pressure of work and an ill mother-in-law. If I was stuck in East Cowes Marina with my family aboard gone midnight with a bunch of cretins making a drunken racket, I'd be pretty irritated myself. I'd recognise that there would be very little I could actually do to stop them, but the last thing I'd be interested in is joining the party! (But please note that when I was 22 I would have joined the party - with the specific intent, frequently enough successful, of shagging their women.)

Nowhere has anyone who's sympathised with the OP suggested that people cannot drink, party, or generally do what they like. Its just a question of recognising the simple fact of common courtesy to others.

Happy sailing!

I find it hard to sleep when there is too much noise going on, as do my young children who get very grumpy if they don't get to sleep early.

Early starts - I am as quiet as I can - not stomping around the pontoons; shouting to be heard by crew etc.; revving engine prior to departure - and most people are considerate. Perhaps the noisy ones are also noisy going into the night as well?

The point about going and joining the party - people's boats are private property, not public bars. Joining in would be at their discretion, not that of the members of this forum!

Party poopers - nobody is suggesting no partying - there are loads of places ashore where noise is expected as opening hours etc. have been through planning/council etc.

If you were at home and could hear your neighbours till 1am once a week, with the clarity that a thickness of fibreglass allows, how long would it be before you complained?

As a comparison.....do people have this sort of problem on camping/caravan sites? ....any ex caravaners out there?? ;-)
My sis has a static van near Pwllheli, her bete noir is the ********s surrounding her who have to "run" the engines of their jet skis, mobos etc.
Ive been their, one in particular, he gets u runs it for ten, settles down then runs it again, worst thing is that his plug suppressors are shagged so it does the digi tele in. Was watching the grand prix, getting exciting then off he goes, the noise and the pic went.
Prick!
