I've used anti-smoke additive very successfully on an old petrol-engined Volvo that would previously only pass the MOT emissions test on zero RPM (really!!).
But is there any reason to avoid such products for a marine diesel?
I have recently decoked my engine, but it is still rather smoky, particularly when starting. Although oil consumption is not excessive it seems some is getting past the piston rings and I am hoping to reduce emissions as for my Volvo.
