Antares 760 - Pantograph wiper upgrade?

I searched and there was an old vague thread from ten years ago but nothing very conclusive came up (for this particular boat).

Has anyone successfully changed their crappy single wipers to pantograph on the 760?
If so would be keen to know what parts you used.

There is a spare threaded mounting to the side of the wiper axle so looks like it could be quickly done (will need arms and blade, not sure if also needs new motor).
Windscreen washer would also be nice.

I've put long wiper blades on my current single wipers which made it better but still only clears the lower half of the screen so not much use when stood up.
Keep meaning to do something about it :)

The 760 came with pantograph wipes from new, hence the seperate stud which is for the second arm. Mine now has just a single arm and I find it acceptable. Somewhere I have some info on source of panto arms and will post again when I find it.

I’m in the same position. I spoke to the uk importer of Doga wiper motors who was no help and Ancasta who said only single arm wipers available. I’ve gone to 24” wipers and added a hooked end to the existing arm but it’s not ideal.

ASAP do washer kits but I struggled to work out where I’d put the reservoir.

Thanks both
Plum, interesting that you say 760s came with pantographs. I've never seen one with them but that windscreen would benefit from a side to side sweep!
Will let you know if I find out what to fit.

Learn something new every day...

PS - Plum, did you mean yours had panto wipers when you got it and if so what made you change them to single?

Most washers just connect to the fresh water tank with a £10 in-line Durite washer pump.

A previous owner of mine had already switched to single arms.

Two of his links (above) fail but I beleive the first one is now this Durite | 0-893-70 - Wiper Arm 16.5mm Pin Pantograph 700mm | AE.Parts
And the second link is now Durite | 0-895-80 - Wiper Blade 16.5mm Pin Sprung Type 800mm | AE.Parts

My origina wiper motors are Doga, made in Spain.

I also switched to 24inch blades on my 20inch arms and the swept area/height is acceptable.

Regarding washers, plumbing into your freshwater tank is not ideal if you want to use your boat in the winter and you don't want the washers to freeze. I was going to make the panel above the windscreen hinge down easily and put a washer bottle behind so the washers sprayed downwards. There is already a power supply up there and a switch could be there too, but in the end I discovered "Rain-x" Rain-X - Rain Repellent | Improve Visibility and with that applied to the windscreen I no longer get the smearing from the salt water.

Many thanks for the info, will have a look into that - very comprehensive :)

Yes I use the 24inch wiper blades - better than the tiny ones that used to be on there!
Will check the arm lengths though - might be able to increase those if they short ones (cheap interim step).

Agree Rain X is very good if re-apply every now and again.

One last thing, do you reckon the motors are specific for either panto or single arm?

The spare threaded stud is fixed so I wondered if the motor fitted at the moment is still the one that was used to run the panto wipers...
I'm hoping (probably in vain) that I could just change the arms and blade :sneaky:

Most of the pantograph arms I’ve found are either the wrong way round (drive arm/stationary arm) or the wrong drive diameter. The Antares/Doga is odd with a tapered drive spline shaft, I don’t want to spend £70/80 on the wrong product and little chance of returning stuff where I live. Neither do I want to change perfectly good motors for ones which ‘might’ fit the holes.

Most 760 owners have changed from panto to single wiper arms so the motors are not specific. However, as JD points out, the original panto arms must be an odd size and that explains why almost all owners end up changing to single arms, accept Alexy, who I refered to above, who replaced the motor at the same time as fitting a new panto arm.

So the challenge is to find out what is different about the fixed studs that form the pivot for the second arm.......

Hi Plum, we bought this setup but wondering did the motor fit inside the space ok?

That's the motor I've been looking at. Thanks for posting. I just need to figure out how to mount the second spindle from the doga motor.
