I read in an earlier thread on the Raystar GPS rollover that restarting the GPS puts the date right. Having suffered the rollover, I tried that on my Raymarine C70 system and it appears to work. Unfortunately, it needs restarting every time it's switched on to keep the date right.

On a practical level, is there an easy way to get the GPS to retain the right date? Alternatively, I think I can rejig the AIS (AIT1500) to supply GPS date and location via NMEA if I disconnect the Seatalk GPS. Is that right?

I'm also puzzled that it's possible to get the right date just by restarting the GPS. How can that wok?

We use our AIT1500 to provide system GPS because it locks on quicker than anything else on the network and is always switched on with radio if plotter etc is off

The behaviour of a GPS on rollover depends on the software, i.e. basically the manufacturer.
On the first rollover my GPS slowly lost satellites as they disappeared over the horizon (as per usual) but was failing to find replacements.
A neighbour on a pontoon at L'Abervrac'h suggested that it should recover in the morning; and it did.
