Another lithium query

Report back. 105ah battery going well. Pleased I got Bluetooth - it does give confidence. Granton to Tobermory (solo to Inverness with autopilot) without mains charging but a goodly bit of motoring (canal and from Corpach the crew not so keen on gusty weather).

But if I hadn't motored might have had problems. Little sun for solar. Fridge on for a few weeks. Crew hairdryer.

What should I think about re charging? Or do I need a 2nd battery and mains charger?

I have a good lead acid charger but doesn't do lithium.

How is the alternator charging the LFP ? If it's via a DC-DC charger connect the mains charger to the starter battery.

The Victron DC DC charger is oscillating on and off - off and then on for a second or two. I think the smart lead acid battery charger (ctek 7000) is altering its output or the BMS doesn't like the input.

I tried supply and charge from ctek.

The Fogstar capacity is increasing slightly.

What are the setting for the DC-DC charger ?

I have ordered a mains lithium charger. Will do next season. I think the smart lead acid charger is the problem.

All good, but you need to enable the engine shutdown detection or it's trying to charge all of the time.
Yes, it was enabled but I reset it so that the charger would operate with engine off. All back to default now.

This has been an interesting test. On the project Fulmar I will use lithium, too, but put a 300ah battery in. Around the same power needs but the larger battery will give extra resilience for not too much more money.

Presumably this will only work satisfactorily if the mains charger is higher output than the DC-DC? Otherwise the DC-DC will cycle on and off and not really contribute very much.

(This is the problem I have with my wind gen- even in good conditions it's only putting out 100w or so, but the DC-DC is 220w)
