June is normally my sailing month, but because my crew are off doing other things this year I've had to reign in my plans. 2 years ago we went to the scillies, and generally the weather was ok. Last year we went to the N Brittany coast and Channel Isles, including the Minquies (but thats another story) and the weather was mixed, with bouts of strong winds and rain followed by sort of acceptable conditions. This year! Well, I'll be lucky to cross the Thames Estuary the way the weather is going! Just looked on XC Weather for the week ahead, by wed/Thursday the temperature in Eastbourne is around 12c, and is not forecast to be above 15 all week! Add pretty strong winds as well and its definitely eberspacher weather!

Grrrrrrr

Know what you mean! Even trying to find one day of 10kts or less of wind to do the SW Sunk is proving impossible although Monday is looking ok (apart from a NE on the way out). Mind you I did get two varnishing days the week before last!

All I can say is that I'm glad I'm not sitting here looking at the longer range forecast worrying about our boat hols at the beginning of July this year. We have normally had two or three weeks off before the school hols. In 2011 we spent a week holed up in Gosport and last year had a day and a half of sun in three weeks. Just watch those weeks be fine this year as we have the end of August/beginning of Sept off......

Unlike us who start our 2 weeks off this weekend!

I'm starting to worry the nice week we had a fortnight ago was 'Summer'.

This does start to get a bit depressing - am thinking of booking a holiday this year and forgetting about our 2 week break up the East Coast.

Other half has started dropping similar hints recently.
So far, I've have been ignoring them.

Good man!

My 10 year old daughter looked over my shoulder at a Greek charter advert in the back of YM I was reading the other day.....'Wow! Can we go there please!!' and 'Look at the colour of that water!!'

I can't bring myself to spend chartering money just to get a week on a knackered old floating caravan - even if it is hot over there!

It'll be alright soon. I predict that as soon as I can go sailing, the skies will clear, the weather will warm, and I will be left with sea breezes coming up around 1pm, dieing around 8pm.

I've spent the last 1/2 hour on the 'latesail' website...... I'll wait till the day before we are due to leave and if it's still winter I'll be picking the phone up.....

'Hello, I've got seasonal adjustment disorder and need a floating caravan somewhere hot please!'

I know how you feel, but I don't think I could ever bring myself to fork over hard earned cash to sail someone else's boat. :(
Worst case scenario: 2 weeks in Brittany (not by boat).

Still, fingers crossed for the end of July and early August.

Last years fortnight in Holland turned into a fortnight in the Deben and Ore.

This year we have a fortnight starting on Monday, with plans to end up in Littlehampton on 29th. That doesn't look likely.
As for July/August heading for the West country, I'm not holding my breath on that one either.

I want to head South!
