Today I noticed the anodes on the legs are almost gone, yet the previous ones lasted from when the previous owner fitted them (Nov 2004 I think) until April 2006 and were only half gone when replaced. The boat has been in Chichester marina since Oct last year and in Plymouth before that. I can appreciate there being a difference between Plymouth and Chi, but the last ones were in Chichester from last October until April and probably had more than 50% left then, these new ones look to only have about 20% left since April.

I am going to fit a galvanic isolator. The qustion I have is, are there different / better quality anodes? and where to get them? I have volvo 290 legs.

One last question, anyone know the cheapest place in the Solent / Chichester area to get a lift out to change them?

Thanks

D

I have always found zincsmart.com to give an excellent, economic service.

Sorry, don't live in the Solent!

The new boat lift/scrub facility at Cowes has been mentioned on this site before as a cost effective short- time access to anodes- I think charge is £80 plus VAT. I have been past a few times in the Summer, but not used it personally, but it looks easy to use, tho @45-60 mins, time access is ltd.

I have done a google search & a link is here:

Having looked @ the site now, it looks as if they may charge for replacing anodes, but may still be OK with owners doing their own if time allows? Worth asking at least? M G Duff for anodes? (Avail from Marine Megastore).
