Annoying Mercedes-Benz advert in this forum

Is it only me that is getting hit with the Merc advert at the top of this forum? It seems to spend most of it's time scrolling down and covering what I am trying to read.

Having adverts on forums seems to be a necessary evil these days, but could we draw the line at the advert suddenly opening up and covering the text we are reading?

Its is on the page for me but to be honest I hadnt noticed it and its well out of the way.

My screen resolution is set to 1024x768, I suspect yours is set to something much lower perhaps?

Nope! It scrolls down over my 1280*1024 dual screens occasionally too. PITA!

The secret is to not let the cursor touch the advert. The rollover triggers the annoying action.

Weird.

I can run the mouse over it - hover on it and nothing at all changes.

Even if I click on it, it has the decency to open in a new window.

I'm on Adobe Flashplayer 9. Maybe its an older version of Adobe on your systems, thats about all I can think of now.

Popping up every time for me at work. I can't be bothered to install a blocker now, I'll just ingnore the forums until I get home where pop-up blocker is already installed.

Keith - this ad makes YBW furums unusable for me.

Merc ad does't bother me. It's the one down the side which gets in my way.

Hi all,

As you may have seen in the pbo reader to reader forum we're not meant to have these scrolling ads in the forums, so we're getting it fixed asap. Sorry for the inconvenience...

They are VERY VERY annoying and I usually never return to a site hat has those types of invasive ads... I would hate to have to consider YBW a no-go site... PLEASE remove them from the main site too.

I know that advertising is a fact of life on the internet but those in-yer-face-can't-get-rid-of adverts and nothing but an annoyance.

Adblock in firefox works well. Just select the US subs service when installing.

I don't use popup blockers because most popups are normally OK... it is these persistent ads that crawl all over your page whilst you are trying to read.

With Adblock you can choose specific Flash ads to block or specific URLs.
