Anger at boats anchoring overnight

It is here:

The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2020

as the secondary legislation. One should not stay away from home overnight without good reason - no mention of sitting on a boat. The guidance says do not do it. The law says you can not do it without reasonable excuse; therefore you can do it with an excuse. The law also says who can challenge you, i.e. they need relevant authority. No curtain-twitching Minnie, fellow boat owner or marina operator can prevent you anchoring overnight.

It's farcical. Total lack of leadership or any strategic thinking. Lead by neutered donkeys, plus the odd poodle (called Hancock) who are thrashing out and making policy decisions on the hoof with no scrutiny nor review, whilst claiming to follow the science but ignoring truths and constantly scaring the bejesus out of the populous. The law is being made a mockery in every which way with the police unwilling to enforce the law (burning flags on the cenotaph, vandalising national monuments, rioting, unlawful assembly). The only significant prosecution being a drunken yob relieving himself *near* a minuscule memorial and who handed himself in. Our so-called media fanning the flames whilst pushing the latest "woke" agenda while not challenging some of the abject nonsense uttered by extremists on all sides.

It's shameful. What on earth have we done to deserve this ridiculous anarchical state of affairs.

Then we come to our minority pastime. Skippers spending time alone on their own vessels miles from civilization worried about our pathetic overlords. Just stop it. Go sailing and leave the idiots behind.

Surely you've contradicted yourself there? If it wasn't the law, why would you need a reason at all, let alone much of one?! :)
Trouble is that people seek to interpret laws in the way that suits them. I see the logic one non transmission when a family unit stay aboard overnight at anchor. However

i suppose donkeys can only make policy on the hoof, since they lack purr paws.

Can you imagine the storm in the media if Boris at one of his briefing's had said no overnight stays in other peoples homes (to stop the risk of spread through shared bathrooms I assume) but its ok if you have a yacht , second home etc.

Am I the only person who finds the presentation totally unacceptable? That is the fourth amendment.
It does not say what the regulation actualy say. It tells the reader to delete this word from that paragraph and insert another word..
But the said paragraph has probably been amended by the third amendment, which was in turn amended by the second amendment which was in turn amended by the first amendment.

It is not possible to simply read the regulations as they are presently worded. I could understand it when everything was prepard om parchment.. but these days we have IT. The amendments process should simply say,,

The third amendment is hereby wholly withdrawn and this (fourth), amendment replaces al previous texts. For assistance the amended texts are highlighted in italics.

Surely there’s quite a difference, a boat or second home is not someone else’s home, it’s an extension of your own.

Nail on the head. Once one realises this, the rest just follows. Stay on your boat, don't make a song and dance of it, and be prepared to politely tell anyone who wants to make a fuss to mind their own business.

Unfortunately, unlike the WWII scenario - we didn't get to elect a government for the purpose. We elected a government based on a) everyone being fed up to the back teeth with the prevaricating over Brexit and b) party political grounds. No one knew we were electing someone to lead us through the worst crisis in living memory. Who would you have picked? Who would have been your Churchill?

Me? I think I'd have gone with Sir John Major - supported by Wiiliam Hague and I'd have drafted Alistair Campbell in as the media guy and Nicola Sturgeon as foreign sec.

Labour's landslide in the 1945 general election remains one of the greatest shocks in British political history.
How did Winston Churchill, a hugely popular national hero, fail to win?

Not sure the "hugely popular national hero" applies this time either !

Hmm Fantasy politics league....

But if we're entering into fantasy, I think I prefer fantasy sailing voyages.

I'll be in Finland next Tuesday if I can conjure up a decent Southwesterly.

Alas we've got Cummings writing the slogans; Dell Boy Johnson making stuff up on the hoof; and a poodle called Hancock chanting the party line as if he's announcing the potato harvest figures. As for Sturgeon, she's doing anything to support her pet cause.

No respect for any of them, although Rishi Sunak comes out of this very well.

A1 to Durham on Cruise control is ok with a full tank then ??
The government advice was to "stay at home etc. and then that advice went on (The Guardian and the Daily Mirror missed this second bit because it would have spoilt their story) but this maybe difficult, especially if young children are involved, and other arrangements will need to be made". which is what DC did
