Android Tide App

Very pleased with Absolute Tides. app was free but you have to purchase the data for the year (£2.00). The 2015 data is about to be released. Works for standard and secondary ports. Also includes a tidal atlas.

2015 data now available. Looks a good app, but I don't see the Tidal Stream Atlas.

Absolute Tides is excellent. As a previous post says the negative reviews are the people that didn't realise the app is free but you pay for the year's tidal information (as its derived from UKHO sources). Once installed, you can use the tide information off line. It has a widget that goes on the home screen showing your favourite port and you don't need a data connection to use it. It shows a month's tides at a glance and the daily tidal curve which makes it a doddle to make sure you don't go aground when anchoring. If you do have a data connection, it has a function that accesses the inshore waters forecast.

I'd recommend this app because lots of apps disappear or fall over when Android updates itself - UK Tides is an example. The Absolute Tides developer patches any problem within 24 hours and is always responsive for requests for supports or bug fixes. Most of the apps are good, but finding one with excellent support makes it well worth a try.

Just checked....and tidal streams works for me. Samsung S5. Clicked on change data source, Clicked on Avonmouth 2015, Clicked on 1st January 2015. Clicked on tidal streams at the bottom, photocopy/scan of tidal atlas appears. Select Irish Sea from the drop down menu. Says HW Dover 10:26. Whether this is correct or not, I've not checked. I did download the 2015 update quite a while ago, whether something has changed?

Yes right , thanks for that. Of course you have to select a date first so that the chartlets can be labelled with actual times, rather than "HT Dover + ...." Hadn't thought of that.
