Android Tide App

Have you tried ChronGlobal? Initial display shows a tidal, solar and lunar chronometer but you can drill down into the pages and get low and high tides. Works worldwide. I've been using it from India to Malaysia and is spot on.

I made the mistake of thinking that I don't need tide tables now I've got a smartphone. Mistake. You don't have to be miles from civilisation to be stuffed if you need a data connection - my phone doesn't have a good enough signal for data in Newton Creek or big chunks of Chichester Harbour, and a few years ago, another network had no signal at all in the Yealm.

I'll keep a couple of the clever ones, but what I really want is a simple tide calculator that doesn't need a data connection. (useful for France, too!)

Try aTides (add supported) so free.
Based on xTide, a long standing pc app.

Like you, I don't like to rely on apps, so each year I put a copy of Dover, Poole, Cherbourg and St Vaast on my website and on my tablet in pdf or jpg format.
 
I use an app called Tide Prediction that uses derived harmonic constants rather than downloading the data. The output is slightly different from the UKHO data, but not significantly (2-3 mins, .2m), and works for any time instead of just 7 days in advance.
It's also free and no ads

No widget though
 
Very pleased with Absolute Tides. app was free but you have to purchase the data for the year (£2.00). The 2015 data is about to be released. Works for standard and secondary ports. Also includes a tidal atlas.
 
I use Absolute Tides on android nexus 7. Simple app with widget on home page. Have to download data as a separate app. Seems to work fine, but has lots of negative ratings, as well as positive ones. Its free but data £2 as above. Also has inshore forecast linked and embedded tidal stream atlas.

PS just seen that all negative reviews are by those who don't realise you have to download data file separately. Data file is in google playstore

I use Tide Prediction-it uses the same model as World Tides for laptops.
Tidal data for UK is provided by Proud man Oceangraphic Institute -who supplydata to Lavers pocket tide tables.
Certainly as accurate as Admiralty harmonics with a few non standard tidal stations thrown in eg.Tobermory.
The harmonic data and means of calculating tides are all downloaded so its stand alone anywhere anytime.
Recently checked out its data for Noosa in Oz and again highly accurate.
 
+1 for Absolute tides. Great that you can actually create your own secondary ports, £2pa is fine by me, just wish they would hurry up and release the 2015 data. On a PC I always use Belfield and print off the local tides, but they seem to have no inclination to progress over to Android or Iphone.
 
UK Tides is working one again. I reinstalled it just now from Google Play and all appears to be fine.
