Ha, just noticed my post-count is the same as the sail number of an Enterprise dinghy I used to race 40 years ago (11,914).

Crikey, must've been one of the Jack Holt prototypes. I learned in Mirror 35,655. First lesson was you can't launch from a beach without getting your feet wet. Mind you, my first mobo lesson was that it's a good idea to turn the main breaker to "on". :encouragement:

A very amusing true story of how far you can go in a boat.
I have a bit of a tie to this story - it starts at a school sailing club - rescuing an old Mirror dinghy from the undergrowth.
I've always wondered if this was the exact same Mirror that I learned to sail (no 29) - it was the same school sailing club anyway.

Very harsh
.Anyhow, changing the subject, we get a Pagnol (locker) with our temporary berth Sant Carles berth. I guess they're not that common in Med marinas but I can already foresee us putting loads of stuff in there...
1) Liferaft (when we're pottering around)
2) Tender and Outboard
3) Bow cushions
4) Saloon sofa infill
5) Cockpit sunbed infill
6) Spare parts
7) Spare bedding
8) Spare shorepower lead
9) Ours and other owners stuff when not aboard
9) Etc
Problem is I can easily see if becoming like our garage at home, so full of crap that you can hardly move.

When I sold my SS , it went so quick I never got a chance to say good bye or sort stuff out .
The Gardianne and broker hired a storage unit and packed , emptied the boat in our absence.
Few months later I returned avec Itama , went and got the key , off i toddled in the hire car group1 thingy .
Guy showed me the said unit -- firsts sight I thought , it's big , maybe that's all they could do @ short notice back them .
Cut to the chase
Had to hire a van to return all the carp accumulated .
Then went through it being brutal , gave two anchors away , ropes , we had 20 + life jackets , reduced that to I think 8
and so on .
What are you gonna put in that spot instead .

There's a locker on the stern specifically for stowing a small liferaft. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the PO bought a large 6 man one in a valise. It doesn't fit anywhere (certainly wouldn't fit under the seats and won't even go through a cabin door), ways a ton and has to be manhandled between the saloon and the cockpit. It's a PITA. Of course, on any trip where it might come in use, we'd take it but I really cannot see that pottering between say the marina and the lagoon in good conditions with other boats about, that there would ever be a circumstance when we'd take to a liferaft. There's too many other options, like drive the boat up the beach, get help from a passer by, take to the tender or even swim ashore.
It would be more likely that I'd trip over the thing and knock myself out.
Of course, the answer would be to get a raft that fits in the locker that Fairline thoughtfully allocated to one.
