Why are Boat taps not like caravans ie. with microswitches. Seems a complete ball ache to have to turn a rocker switch on and then the tap. Or am I missing something ?

Your pump microswitch must be broken then. When you first switch the rocker switch to "on" the pump should start momentarily, and then stop as a pressure sensitive switch cuts the electrical supply. When you open the tap, the pressure reduces and the pump works. Hey Presto! Running water.

Before you do that switch the pump on and runthe taps for a bit, mine tends to get air in the auto switch and takes ages to bleed it through. Only applies if its been allowed to run completely dry though.
