re-sharp the spade

Until now I saw comments on the SPADE only in sandy environment. I would be interested in tests or testimony about utilisation in muddy or rocky environment. Another question is : noticed you a wear of the blade, is it necessary to envisage the re-sharping of the blade, as far as it is one of its strengthes.
