Setting off from Whitehaven next week, itinery is Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, and then to the Firth of Clyde.
Normally wouldm anchor/pick up mooring off Ramsey, but the winds are forecasted to be Easterley for most of next week, but light to moderate.
In case Ramsey prroves not suitable for a stopover, I was wondering about anchoring on the NW side, about 7 miles SW of the Point of Ayre.

Has anyone anchored in this area, is it suitable. Will have my dog with me, so need suitable place for landing the dink.

I’ve not anchored there, but I’ve walked on the beach and it looks easily beachable in calm conditions. A bit further and Peel should be a good spot to anchor and well sheltered if you don’t want the marina. Good facilities too.

Off ramsey in easterlies is definitely not a place to be, different matter if your inside the harbour. I would second Peel, if your easterlies end up with any north in them at all I wouldnt have thought the west side of the point of ayre would be comfortable as it runs ne.
